Apply to Heartland
Whether you are new to Heartland or a returning student, you have come to the right spot!
Note: If you have submitted a Heartland application or taken a Heartland class within the last 12 months, you do not need to reapply! To update your personal information or change your program of study, see the Update Student Information section of the Records page.
To submit your application, you'll need to know:
- Your personal information, such as Social Security Number, mailing address (including apartment or unit number, if applicable), and phone number.
- Your chosen Program of Study if you are pursuing a degree or certificate at Heartland
- The semester you wish to begin taking courses
- On the Education History page: if you attended a high school or college in another country, select International High School or International College from the drop-down menu, rather than entering the name of your school.
High School/College NOW, International F-1 Visa Students, and students with No Social Security Number, read the special instructions below prior to applying!
Do not click Submit multiple times at the end of the application! The submission process can take a few moments to complete.

- College NOW students MUST select "Take one or more classes" even if working toward a degree or certificate while still in high school. If you choose any other option, the processing of your application may be delayed.
- If you do not have a Social Security Number (SSN), contact Admissions at 309-268-8010 or admissions@heartland.edu for an SSN placeholder to enter on the application.
Students who wish to study under an F-1 International Student visa:
- If you will be a Visiting Student at Heartland while you remain primarily enrolled on an F-1 visa at another US college or university, click the Apply Now button above to submit the standard online application. Permission from the Designated School Official (DSO) at your university will be required.

New or transferring F-1 students, DO NOT submit the application above. You must complete the international student application process.
If you have a visa but do not have a Social Security Number (SSN):
- First, contact Admissions at 309-268-8010 or admissions@heartland.edu for an SSN placeholder to enter on the application.
- Next, click the Apply Now button above to submit the standard online application. You can't save your application to complete later, so don't start it until you have the SSN placeholder from Admissons.
- If you attended high school or college in another country, select International High School or International College from the list of schools on the Education page, rather than entering the name of your school.
If you are not a US citizen and do not have a visa or permanent residency card:
If you are a DACA recipient, DREAMer, or undocumented, submit our Heartland offline application. This is a fillable form you can complete on your computer, then download as a PDF. Be sure to answer all questions!
Please double-check that your downloaded form saved the information you entered before you close the browser window! If the download does not include your information, try the Print to PDF feature instead.

- Bring or mail it to the Admissions Office in the Community Commons Building on the Normal Heartland campus:
