Degree/Certificate Students
Once you've applied and received your acceptance letter, these are your next steps to prepare to enroll!
- Within 3-5 business days from your submission date, your welcome letter will go to the email address you entered on your application. Application processing could take longer during high-volume times near the start of a semester OR if an error is detected with the information entered on your application.
- If you can't locate your welcome letter, please check your Spam and Promotions folders. If you still can't locate it, email Applications@heartland.edu for help!
- Visit home.heartland.edu to log into your myHeartland account, using the Login and Student ID from your Welcome Letter. From there, you can:
- Click on Manage My Password to create a password and set up security questions.
- Access your myHeartland email
- Visit your Student Center to:
- Apply for scholarships through the Foundation Scholarship tile
- Make appointments through the Navigate tile
- Register for classes and make enrollment changes on the Manage Classes tile
- View your schedule/bill and financial information

Placement tests help determine the best courses for your success at Heartland.
- First-time college students take the ACCUPLACER literacy placement test unless using a waiver or previous college-level credit for placement.
- Students take the ALEKS math placement exam, submit a valid waiver, or accept default placement in the developmental MATH 87/95/97 level. We encourage students to prepare for placement.

Visit home.heartland.edu and check your Student Center To Do lists to see what transcripts you need to submit. Submit transcripts to the Records Office.

- New and Transfer Students who plan to complete a certificate or degree at Heartland must schedule a New Student Appointment before enrolling in classes.
- Current and Returning students can make an appointment or drop in Monday through Friday from noon-4 p.m (first floor of the Community Commons Building). Advisement for Career and Technical Education programs is by appointment only.
Financial Steps
The Heartland Community College Financial Aid Office is here to help. To get started, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It's important to apply for financial aid early!
- The Heartland Community College Foundation awards over 250 scholarships each year! Complete the online application in your myHeartland Student Center.
Proof of in-district residency is required for you to receive the in-district tuition rate unless you graduated from a high school located in Heartland's district within the past year.

- When it comes to paying for college, you have many options. You can access your student bill online by visiting home.heartland.edu, clicking on Student Center, then choosing View My Schedule/Bill.
