Heartland Community College

Non-Degree and Visiting Students

Once you've applied and received your acceptance letter, these are your next steps to prepare to enroll!

    • Within 3-5 business days from your application submission date, your welcome letter will go to the email address you entered on your application. Application processing could take longer during high-volume times near the start of a semester OR if an error is detected with the information entered on your application.
      • If you can't locate your welcome letter, please check your Spam and Promotions folders. If you still can't locate it, email Applications@heartland.edu for help!
    • Visit home.heartland.edu to log into your myHeartland account, using the Login and Student ID from your Welcome Letter. From there, you can:
      • Click on Manage My Password to create a password and set up security questions
      • Access your myHeartland email
      • Click on Student Center to:
        • Make Appointments through the Navigate tile
        • Register for classes and make enrollment changes on the Manage Classes tile
        • View your schedule/bill and financial information
  • Locate the course(s) you'd like to take on the class schedule and ensure you meet the course prerequisites.

    1. If you have met the prerequisites with prior college coursework, submit an unofficial transcript to records@heartland.edu.
    2. If prior coursework does not meet prerequisites, complete placement testing or submit applicable documentation for a placement waiver. We encourage students to prepare for placement.
  • Once you have submitted an unofficial transcript to meet prerequisites, you must connect with an academic advisor before you can enroll.  Contact an academic advisor by:

    • Emailing advising@heartland.edu
      • In the email, please include your name, birthdate or HCC ID number, and the courses in which you want to enroll.
    • Attending in-person drop-in hours.
      • Monday – Friday, Noon - 4:00 pm
      • First floor of the Community Commons Building (campus map)

Once your prerequisites are satisfied and entered, you can then enroll.

  • Once your Heartland course(s) is complete, you can request that your official Heartland transcript be sent to your home institution so they can add the course(s) to your record.
